bill, of good old unadilla nebraska, saw his shadow.
phil, and his friends of punxsutawney pennsylvania, did not see their shadows.

who are we to believe?
i don't know about you, but my bets with bill.
look at the honesty in his face. groundhogs with mustaches like that never lie.
besides, phil is wrong every year. and he's been hangin' with a pretty shady crowd that apparently doesn't cast any shadows.
phil---early spring. (yeah! but don't get excited. the calendar says 6 more weeks no matter what. right there you can catch phil in his evil ways.)
bill---6 more weeks of old man winter. what an honest ground hog he is. (he knows how to read us the calendar too.)
i hope the next 6 weeks will go by fast, because I . HATE . WINTER .
****i just learned a disturbing fact about dear old dead bill. he's really a texidermied groundhog that they parade through town. DUCT TAPED TO THE HOOD OF SOMEONES CAR. awesome. then they unleash him and set him in the street to see if his shadow can be seen or not. because man, its hard to tell if he's gonna see his shadow or not taped to the hood of that car. small town nebraskans just got more awesomer than they already were. (remember that awesome is not always a good word--it just means that it inspires "awe"--and some head scratching.) sounds like stuff they'd do down in the deep south........like say.....folkston georgia..............but not here. i guess the year-round corn really does go to their heads.****
shooooooot. all that, just for a shadow. (said in a strong southern accent)
real proud to be a nebraskan. (said through teeth while clearing throat--descriptions are awesome!)
rest in peace, poor bill. until next year when its time to get taped and paraded around by corn crazed small town nebraskans.

Can you see the pride swelling within me?
I L.O.V.E. your groundhogs! We didn't get NEARLY that creative yesterday. Okay. We didn't get creative at all.
And for the record, I too have serious doubts about Phil's ability to prognosticate. I say 6 more weeks. But that's just a guess.
